Final Revision of the Summer outing logistics with some comments from Andy Hall
Logistics
Sunday 19th May 2019
Ellon Park and Ride leave at 0900
Oldmeldrum Carpark - Leave at 0900
Stonehaven
Photographic opportunity at the Harbour: he Harbour Front at first light is a gem. In dull weather, there are lots of textures and colours in the creels, buoys, nets and chains. There are interesting eroded rocks just under the first cliffs as you walk north from the village of Cowie towards the golf course.
Morning Coffee
Target Cafe is Mollys but we can’t book so it may be that we are spread out other cafes are the old Pier Coffee house / The harbour Hut / Waterfront / etc
Heading South down the Coast road A90/ A92 we have a few options for photo opportunities
Dunottar Woods
Dunnottar Woods will be full of back-lit leaves in the midday sun
St. Palladius Church in Drumtochty Glen
Is worth a visit
Todhead Lighthouse
Is worth a visit if it is a bright sunny day with a blue sky, looking up at the abstract shapes with a long lens.
Crawton Waterfall / RSPB Scotland Fowlsheugh
Interesting clump of trees.
St Cyrus
Is gorgeous on a sunny day, particularly at the North End. You can pick up sand patterns and beach details on the way if you’re there at low tide.
Johnshaven Harbour
Viaduct at Kinnbar
before heading back to Gourdon for harbour Shots and a meal at the Quayside restaurant (1630/1700 Menus have been sent out by e-mail)
Dunnottar Castle
evening sun shots - better at the end of the day with directional light.
